CIB hosted PhD student from Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové

PhD student Kateřina Kápičková from Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové, Charles University joined in April 2026 the team of RNDr. Veronika Huntošová, PhD. and completed her one-month ERASMUS+ stay at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.

Kateřina actively participated in laboratory work and transferred the skills in preparation of spheroids to members of Dr. Huntošová team. She learned the basics of photodynamic therapy applied in 2D and 3D models. The members of Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences had opportunity to listen presentation from Kateřina, where she summarized her recent studies regarding to glioblastoma treatments.

This mobility rice up new collaboration between both research groups at CIB TIP-UPJŠ in Košice and Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové, Charles University.

Preparation and investigation of breast cancer spheroids exposed to photodynamic therapy mediated by nanoparticles were performed within implementation of the
project supported by EU NextGenerationEU through the Recovery and Resilience Plan for Slovakia under project number 09I03-03-V04-00007: Breast cancer organoid on a chip for fluorescence lifetime imaging of autophagy and apoptosis induced by targeted treatment with designed ankyrin repeat protein.
