CIB Researchers Gain Experience in Advanced FLIM Imaging in Brno

RNDr. Veronika Huntošová, PhD., and RNDr. Silvia Tomková, PhD., from the Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences attended the “Lifetime-Based Bioimaging Across Cells and Tissues” workshop on 20 and 21 October 2026. The event was held at the CELLIM Cellular Imaging Core Facility at CEITEC Masaryk University in Brno. The programme combined expert lectures with practical demonstrations of FLIM, FLIM-FRET, and quantitative fluorescence imaging.

RNDr. Veronika Huntošová, PhD., participated as an invited speaker and delivered a lecture entitled “Monitoring of Photodynamically Active Nanoparticles Using FLIM,” in which she presented the application of FLIM to the investigation of photodynamically active nanoparticles. RNDr. Silvia Tomková, PhD., subsequently took part in practical training using the Leica STELLARIS FALCON system.

The workshop provided an opportunity to gain practical experience, engage in expert discussions, and establish new contacts within the advanced bioimaging community. It also facilitated the exchange of expertise between the Slovak BioImaging Network, SKBIN, and the Czech-BioImaging research infrastructure.

The researchers’ participation was supported by the CAMO3E project, “Advanced imaging in the early diagnosis of esophageal tumours,” co-funded by the European Union through the Programme Slovakia, project No. 401101F618.
